About time I did something right?,lol.
I'm going to make complete game editing directions, with screen-shots, so is to make a fool proof tutorial so to speak, and hopefully getting around the getting lost part when a new person goes to edit there game, and they get lost in the manual typing it all out. this set will show you how to access your control panel, and enable cheats, file customizing coming soon.
So, here it is, completely simple, and easy to follow, I hope, I'll continue space, and staff willing.
To access your C:/ drive, and game files, or the drive your game is hiding on, will be behind the computer icon which you see on the upper left hand corner on my desktop, your should look the same, the computer icon anyway. Click on your computer icon, and next I'll show you close to what you'll see next.
here is your main drive directory, or mine anyway. You can see a C:/ drive, a D:/ drive, and floppy main. Usually your game is installed in the C:/ drive, or if you manually pathed the install to another drive like me, on the D:/ drive, then go to it, otherwise, click on your C:/ drive icon.
When you get here, it is the same no matter what drive your game is on, so click on the programs icon, mine is to the far right in this pic.
here is your program list, you will spot your ht-18-wos folder, scrolling may be required, but you'll see it, click it when you do.
here is the game's main file set up, my file set up is a little tricky do to it being so far past stock, but don't let me loose you know. Click the game folder.
Find your "usr" folder, and all your folders you will want to edit in the future.
o.k., this is my version, with all game folders in there. With a stock version of the game, you'll only see a music folder, and the config file. this is what you'll need to open and edit to enable the games cheat commands.
Here is the config. file after you click it, it should open in notepad, or wordpad automatically if your running windows 98' or better. If you look closely, you see a line that reads
"unset g_console "0"
change the "0", to "1", close out. If it asks you to save the document changes, click yes, and head back to your desktop. Run your game, and once in the game, you can hit the ~ key, this drags down the console for the game. now, just add in the cheat commands found at the cheat codes thread in the 18-wos thread here, where I'll be updated all the working cheat commands, but for tonight, there are enough there to get you rolling.
Well, I know they are a little blurry, but I hope this gives everyone wondering a better idea as to diving into the files and finding something. I'll pin this for now, and directions of how to manually make sure patches, and file additions get placed right, so on and so forth. Hope this helps, and I'll see ya'll tomarrow, as always.
Keep'em Rollin'
